Thursday, October 11, 2012 Great News for The Ohio State University Marching Band!

I am so happy this morning...I am wide awake and jumping for joy! Jon Waters is officially the new director of the Ohio State Marching Band. He's been the interim director all this year, after the director of my day, Dr. Jon Woods, retired. (Here's Dr. Woods dotting the i last year).
I was in Columbus a few weeks ago for this year's Alumni Band Game. John Waters was in front and the band just sounded...joyful. When he directed, he was joyful. I loved being there. It was one of the happiest days of my life.
And oh, in addition to being happy, he's a fantastic director. The band's sound is rich, full and powerful. They're marching can't-wait-to-see-what's-next halftime shows and look and sound great on the field. The first video is of the Band's "video game" halftime show during last weekend's game against Nebraska. It's gone viral and in just 4 days has 7 million views. Go Bucks!
