Orgainize Spices Quickly and Easily

I got sick to screaming of looking for the ground mustard while standing on my tip toes, pulling out spice jars one by one, being careful not to knock the others over but having them fall out of the cuboard anyhow...and that was before I even tried cooking. Here's an easy solution that has made things a ton easier for me in the kitchen. The spices are all alphabetically organizined in labeled containers (made from the bottom of milk jugs) so I can grab out the right container and find what I'm looking for. This might not do on HGTV, but it's working out all right for me.

Before making this project, peruse your spice collection to see what makes sense for your alphabetizing. I found that I had a lot of spices that started with A, B, C, and P, so those letters required their own container. I can see P -- lots of kinds of pepper -- but why would A, B, and C be so popular?

Anyhow, I'm not loving my camera skills today so I'm just going to explain (it's easy)...

  1. Rinse out milk jug
  2. Cut off bottom -- I cut around just below where the handle comes in
  3. Dry jug with towel
  4. Fold index card in half and write letters on front
  5. Staple card to side of jug

So, there you go. Search for spices no more!
